From Amsteg or Intschi, hikers reach the recreational area Arni by cable car.
The well-marked hiking trail first runs along the picturesque Arnisee. On the western lakeshore, near a material cable car, the hut trail begins. This trail is quite steep with loops and switchbacks through the shady green forest. At 1778 m above sea level, the flatter section with the Riedboden begins, a fascinating but also protected landscape. Mountain pines, sedge grass, and moor ponds line the trail. It continues between blueberry bushes, ascending another slope level to Grossgand with its hidden small lakes. Not far to the hiking destination, the route veers slightly west and leads, next to a larger lake, up to the Sunniggrätli Hut (1978 m above sea level). The summit cross on Sunnig Grat (2033 m above sea level) is 15 minutes from the hut, where you are rewarded with an incomparable view of the Urner Reusstal and Lake Uri.
