An enjoyable 3-day journey through three regions. Experience the romantic Oberaargau, the hilly Emmental and the Solothurn region with the river courses of the Aare and Emme.

Directions

Day 1

1. Start in Herzogenbuchsee. Not far from the “Kreuz”, it starts. Route 84 takes you 8 km to Langenthal.

2. Langenthal. A small city tour with an ice cream is inevitable. Afterwards, you switch to 71 for 7 km to Madiswil.

3. Madiswil. This proud village deserves a look at the manor houses. And here you switch to 99, which you follow for 14 km to Hüswil.

4. Hüswil. You are in the canton of Lucerne! Now follows a small stretch of 2 km without a route number. But it is signposted “to route 399”.

5. Lochmühle. You are in the Luthertal and have come across the “Herzschlaufe Napf”. Follow this fabulous route no. 399 for 16 km.

6. Oberwald. The cozy country inn is also a junction point. You leave 399 immediately after the inn and follow the road steeply downwards for 4 km.

Day 2

7. Start in Dürrenroth. The route no. 94 runs in front of the house, which you follow for 10 kilometers to Gammenthal near Sumiswald. 

8. In Gammenthal at the railway crossing you leave 94 and follow the sign “to route no. 99”. The road leads you about 1.5 km uphill to Neuegg.

9. Neuegg. Arrived at the ridge, you see route no. 99 (Herzroute), which you follow for 15 km to Burgdorf. What a splendid stretch!

10. Burgdorf. The castle town in the Emmental is worth a small sightseeing. Here you switch to no. 24, which you follow for 6 km to Kirchberg.

11. Kirchberg. Along the Emme, you continue on route no. 44, which leads you on flat terrain for 20 km to Solothurn.

Day 3

12. Start in Solothurn. Choose route no. 5, which gently leads you 19 km along the Aare to Stadönz.

13. Stadönz. You leave the Aare and take route 34 for 7 km to Aeschi.

14. In Aeschi, you meet route no. 802, which takes you 6 km to Herzogenbuchsee station.
