The Path of Visions is both a hiking trail and a meditation path and begins thematically in Flüeli at the birthplace of Brother Klaus and ends in the burial chapel in Sachseln.

Visions are special gifts from God and (inner) experiences of saintly people, including Brother Klaus and his wife Dorothee. The special pilgrimage is dedicated to the inner and outer life of Brother Klaus. The first five visions are experiences of Brother Klaus, but the sixth is an inner vision of Dorothee.

The six metal sculptures on the path and the drawings in this booklet are by the Obwalden artist André Bucher (1924 - 2009). The path was inaugurated in 1991 - to mark the 700th anniversary of the Swiss Confederation.

The meditation trail begins at the birthplace in Flüeli-Ranft and ends at Niklaus von Flüe's grave in the Sachseln parish and pilgrimage church.

Vision 1: Stone, star, holy oil
Niklaus von Flüe sees signs in his mother's womb that show him the way.

Vision 2: A tall, beautiful tower
Sixteen-year-old Niklaus sees a tall tower on the spot where he later lives as a hermit. From then on, he seeks the "One Being".

Vision 3: The young man's decision
Niklaus encounters three men, the symbol of the Triune God, and decides to serve God completely from then on.

Vision 4: Vision of a well
Niklaus sees a well overflowing with wine, oil and honey and realizes that he himself is this well.

Vision 5: Threefold thanksgiving
God the Father, Mary and the Son thank Niklaus for coming to Christ's aid on the cross.

Vision 6: Dorothee's Easter experience
Visions run through Niklaus von Flüe's life. Dorothee goes with him, even if she doesn't understand everything. At her husband's grave, a messenger comforted her, saying that he had seen Niklaus with the flag of victory as a sign of perfection.

The path is freely accessible and can also be walked in the opposite direction.
