  • Start: Meggen center
  • Destination: Luzern train station
From the center of Meggen, the path leads over fields and meadows up to the mystical Meggerwald. From there, you continue hiking to Adligenswil. High above the town, you pass the Kurhaus Sonnmatt on your way to the Gerlisberg Monastery. After one last effort, you reach the Dietschiberg, the little sister of the Rigi. The path descends to Utenberg, and from there you reach the colossal Dreilinden Park.

The hike starts at Meggen train station. You walk towards the town hall up to the main road and shortly after you will see the externally plain-looking Pius Church. However, a detour into the church is worthwhile, as the interior design is quite astonishing. Continue uphill to Schlösslistrasse. In the curve, the path leads up a steep staircase to Kreuzbuchstrasse. Turn left and follow the hiking trail towards Adligenswil. Pause briefly and enjoy the view over Meggen, the lake, and the Rigi.

Mystical Meggerwald
The trail then leads into the mystical Meggerwald forest. Take the right path to stay on the hiking trail. After a large clearing, you reach a junction. From there, the path leads towards Adligenswil. You reach the village church St. Martin and follow the hiking trail towards Sonnmatt. Through fields and meadows to the well-known Kurhaus Sonnmatt. Now follow Gerlisbergstrasse up to the Gerlisberg Monastery.

Up to the Dietschiberg

The final effort awaits. Follow the trail behind the monastery towards Dietschiberg. The hiking trail leads you right across the beautiful golf course directly onto Dietschiberg. You made it! You are rewarded with a breathtaking view, making it the perfect spot for a picnic break. After the refreshment, continue towards Utenberg. The descent takes you past several beautiful manor houses. At the end of Dietschibergstrasse, turn onto Gundoldingenstrasse and follow the road to Dreilindensteig. From there, you arrive directly at Dreilinden Park.

You can now return either on foot or by bus back to the town.
