The Etzel, the local mountain of Pfäffikon, is a popular hiking area. It offers a natural and sacred landscape, as well as history.

BROOKS, meadows, pastures, forests and scattered moor islands form a varied landscape like mosaic stones. With the Etzelweid fen and the Schönboden raised bog, a diverse habitat is encountered on the way. Later, the view of Lake Zurich becomes a companion. The last elevation meters are covered on the Way of St. James.

The circular route starts and ends at the guesthouse and the St. Meinrad chapel, which are registered as an ensemble in the federal inventory of protected village images. The chapel is dedicated to Saint Meinrad, who is said to have lived here around 828. The history of the guesthouse goes far back, as a wooden pilgrim house already stood on the Etzelpass in the 14th century.
