The monastery complex of the Capuchin nuns in Stans yesterday, today, and tomorrow
The efforts to establish a community of sisters of the Third Order began in the early 17th century. In 1624, the Capuchin nuns were able to occupy the monastery building, and in 1625, the church was consecrated. Over the following roughly 400 years, the monastery buildings were continuously expanded and renewed, and this process has not ended with the departure of the sisters. The foundation Kloster St. Klara in Stans is currently leading the monastery complex into the future.
Wendel Odermatt, conservator SKR, guides us through the stages of the construction history. Niklaus Reinhard, architect and president of the St. Klara Foundation, provides insight into the recent measures and a glimpse into the future development of the area.
The event takes place in the Sust at the Herrschaftshaus Grafenort, and admission is free (collection). The café bar in the Sust opens at 6:45 PM. Please note: The number of seats is limited – the principle of "first come, first served" applies.
