Walk with a Museum Visit

Walk along the Lake Lucerne shore with an exciting museum visit

Enjoy a walk along the magnificent lakeside promenade of Lake Lucerne to the Swiss Museum of Transport. An exciting museum visit completes the excursion

Right at the starting point of the route, the train station, you can already enjoy the view of the KKL building with its magnificent roof construction. Immediately afterwards, you will find the harbor and Lucerne’s landmark, the historic Chapel Bridge. After crossing the Seebrücke, you will reach the well-known lakeside promenade that leads to the Swiss Museum of Transport. You can stroll comfortably along the spacious quay. On the lakeside, you can enjoy the view of the water, the arriving and departing ships, and the magnificent panorama. 

Afterwards, you will be rewarded with an exciting visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport. Discover the development of mobility on rails, roads, water, in the air, and in space.

  • At Lucerne railway station, there are five wheelchair-accessible parking spaces in the station car park
  • At Lucerne railway station, there is a Eurokey toilet in the basement level
  • At the Lucerne, Casino-Palace bus stop, there is a public toilet. The women’s toilet is wheelchair accessible
  • At the Swiss Museum of Transport, there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet
  • The Swiss Museum of Transport, as well as the associated Restaurant Mercato, is wheelchair accessible
  • Route is approx. 3 km, easy fitness level (for wheelchair users), 10 m elevation gain

Stages

  • Start at Lucerne Railway Station
  • Walk across the Seebrücke along the lakeside path to the Swiss Museum of Transport (approx. 45 min)
  • Instead of the Seebrücke, you can also walk across the Chapel Bridge
  • Visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport
  • Dining options directly at the Swiss Museum of Transport
  • Return to Lucerne Railway Station by bus from the Verkehrshaus/Lido bus stop or by train from Luzern Verkehrshaus
