Until the 19th century, only religious plays were performed at the Stifttheater Beromünster; subsequently, the stage was opened up to secular themes as well.
In addition to renting out the venue, the Kulturzentrum Stiftstheater Beromünster association aims to promote culture, particularly the regional and emerging cultural scene. As a result, the Stiftstheater has been a member of Kulturlandschaft Luzern since 2013.
