Great myth

The ascent to the Grosser Mythen offers a wonderful panoramic view. Once you reach the summit, all your efforts are forgotten. A breathtaking panoramic view of the mountain peaks of the Alps, the Schwyz valley basin, the lakes of Central Switzerland and the expanse of the Central Plateau will leave you in awe. Between April and November, the summit restaurant is open daily in good weather (when the Swiss flag is up).

Mythen Trail

The Mythenweg trail from Holzegg is steep and has 47 hairpin bends from Holzegg to the summit. At bend 29, the 'steinerne Bänkli' invites you to rest. The trail is well developed, with delicate and exposed sections secured with chains. It is rated T3 in terms of difficulty and is easily accessible in good conditions. Good footwear, a head for heights and sure-footedness are prerequisites. The difficulties increase in wet or poor conditions.

The trail is maintained and cleaned every year by the Mythen Friends. The safety chains are removed in winter. You can find information on the condition of the trail here: grossermythen.ch
