Luzerner Theater

Theatre
Opening in the autumn of 1839 to Schiller’s William Tell, the Lucerne Theatre now has 481 seats.

Idyllically located on the banks of the River Reuss, the Lucerne Theatre is the oldest multi-genre venue in Central Switzerland. It’s also one of the largest cultural institutions, offering a variety of opera, drama and dance productions.

Innovative, commemorative and entertaining

As a theatre of discovery, the Lucerne Theatre also focuses on innovative, commemorative and entertaining works. Its programme, for instance, includes matinees and soirées as well as specific offerings for children, young people and senior citizens. In addition to the main auditorium, the Lucerne Theatre’s venues include the “Box” in front of the theatre, the Südpol performing arts centre in Kriens, the Figurentheater puppet theatre and the Jesuit Church.
