Ronfeld nature observation site on Lake Baldegg: untouched nature in the Lucerne Seetal valley
Thanks to the efforts of Pro Natura Lucerne, the area has been ecologically enhanced over the last 20 years and now offers a rich diversity of species. Rare migratory birds use the Ronfeld as a resting place, and with a little patience you can observe kingfishers, grass snakes and water rails.
Two observation hides are available for you to experience nature in peace. Various herons and wading birds can be observed, especially in spring and fall, including rare species such as the purple heron. In summer, the concert of water frogs is impressive.
The hide, built in 2007, allows you to watch white storks, kingfishers and grey herons foraging without disturbing them. The screen wall at the tidal troughs allows almost undisturbed observation of the newly created habitats. Binoculars are particularly recommended in spring and fall.
Opening hours
The Hide is open from April to October every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday as well as on public holidays from 09:00 to 18:00. In April, May and June, access is possible on Saturdays from 07.00 hrs. The viewing wall at the flood troughs is freely accessible all year round.
Please move slowly, speak quietly and do not hold anything out of the observation windows so as not to disturb the animals. Private guided tours can be requested at any time.
