Spiegelseeli
Situated high above Engelberg, the Spiegelseeli is a real natural gem. Like a natural mirror, the small mountain lake impressively reflects the surrounding mountains in windless conditions, from the steep Titlis east face to Grassengrat and Bärenzähn, Klein and Gross Spannort and the mighty Schlossberg. A panorama board on site helps with orientation.
The Spiegelseeli is not only a popular photo subject, it is also a living habitat: tadpoles and frogs frolic in the water, and the mountain or alpine newt, a salamander-like animal measuring eight to twelve centimetres with an intensely yellow-orange to red-coloured, unspotted belly, is also at home here.
