After a short walk from Flüelen (railway station) along the lakeside promenade, you will reach the mouth of the Gruonbach. If you prefer to take the bus from Flüelen railway station - no problem: the bus takes you directly to the "Gruonbach" bus stop, from where it is a short walk down to the lake.
A magnificent view opens up before you have even reached your actual destination: Isenthal on the opposite side of the lake is already making plans for the next hike. The shores of Isleten and Bauen on the other side of the lake can be glimpsed. Gitschen, Niederbauen and Oberbauen form the imposing mountain backdrop. An idyllic setting in which to spend time.
This is a great place to take a break. Whether before or after a hike along the "Swiss Path" or as a conscious break from everyday life.
The first dishes are already sizzling on the fire pit, which is usually well stocked with wood. Don't forget your well-stocked rucksack so you can join the barbecuers.
The lake invites you for a refreshing swim and the sunbathing lawn (pebble beach and terraced meadow) offers space for sun-seekers and landlubbers.
There are also sanitary facilities.
Smaller children can have fun along the stream where they can build dams and sand and gravel castles. A small, natural waterfall provides a welcome shower.
Surfers and kiters can let off steam on the wind-safe lake outside the marked bathing area. Kayakers and stand-up paddle fans also get their money's worth here. A spectacle for those watching from the beach.
