Wildegg Castle

castle
Wildegg Castle near Lenzburg combines historical living culture with diverse gardens. The castle grounds tell of the life of the von Effinger family and the garden culture of past centuries.
Wildegg Castle is situated on a hill above the River Aare between Lenzburg and Brugg and is one of the most impressive castle complexes in the canton of Aargau. The extensive castle grounds include the historic castle, farm buildings and a diverse garden and cultural landscape.

The life of the von Effinger family, who shaped the estate from the 15th to the 20th century, can be experienced in the originally furnished living quarters. The exhibition leads through several floors and provides an insight into the everyday life, living culture and history of the castle's former inhabitants.

Various gardens extend around the castle, including a kitchen garden, a rose garden, vineyards and historic avenues of trees. Paths lead through the grounds and repeatedly open up views of the surrounding landscape. The combination of castle, gardens and cultural landscape makes the domain a versatile excursion destination.

Regular guided tours, events and offers for families complement the experience on the castle grounds. A bistro on the grounds also invites visitors to linger.
