Lenzburg Castle

castle
One of the oldest hilltop castles in Switzerland with interactive exhibitions, historical rooms, former prison cells and sweeping views over the Seetal valley.
High above the town of Lenzburg, the castle sits enthroned on a striking molasse hill and has shaped the region for almost 1,000 years. The well-preserved hilltop castle is one of the most important of its kind in Switzerland and combines history with lively mediation. Inside, exhibitions tell of the life of knights and nobles, of courtly culture and of everyday life in earlier times. Historic rooms, battlements and the castle courtyard bring the different eras to life - from medieval beginnings to modern times.

The former prison cells and themed events for families offer special insights. Regular guided tours and events such as markets and craft demonstrations create additional experiences. The battlements also offer sweeping views over the Seetal valley and the surrounding hills. Between history, views and cultural offerings, this is a versatile excursion destination for culture enthusiasts, families and groups.
