  • Start: Seewlisee
  • Destination: Golzern
The scenically varied route starts in the Reuss Valley and ends in the Maderanertal. Deeply incised Ribi avalanche valleys, steep mountain forests, and various views shape the route, which winds in a bow shape above Erstfeld under the Chli Windgällen towards Lake Golzern – a unique experience.

The start from Alp Uf den Büelen/ Seewlisee (2026 m) is quite exposed and the path towards Kilcherberge is very steep. On a mountain trail, we first hike over the Öfitalberg (Efitalberg) above the Färschen and the deeply incised Öfital (Efital) under the bizarre Pfaffentürme through scree slopes and steep forest sections to Seldertal and to the mountain meadows of the Chilcherberge (Kilcherberg, 1155 m, cable car).

The crossing of the moraine-like Schipfental is facilitated by a 48-meter-long suspension bridge. We reach Waldiberg with a slight ascent across mountain meadows. We climb up to the left and follow the markings attached to boulders and fir trees towards Eisten (1443 m). There we can take a last rest on the large bench opposite the beautiful mountain Bristen. Then we hike on the partly secured path with steel stairs up and down through the steep mountain forests always heading towards Golzern. Shortly after, we find ourselves at the entrance of the legendary Maderanertal. Then the path descends through the Widderlaui to the wide high path that leads us further to Golzern with its well-maintained inns and the nearby Lake Golzern (1411 m).

Safety guidelines

Mountain hiking is demanding.

For mountain and alpine hiking trails, knowledge of dangers in the mountains (rockfall, risk of slipping/falling, sudden weather changes) is necessary. Sturdy hiking boots with grippy soles, weather-appropriate equipment, topographic national maps (not just smartphone), compass, and altimeter belong to the basic equipment. Additionally, a small first-aid kit, emergency blanket, and mobile phone for emergencies also belong to the basic equipment.

It is recommended to make a serious tour plan and careful preparation for each hike. The weather in the mountains can change very quickly. Fog can also make orientation difficult even in summer. The biggest danger in summer beside heat is thunderstorms. Thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail can turn a small brook into a large stream quickly and increase the risk of mudslides and rockfall. Therefore, it is important to interpret the weather report when planning tours. Warm thunderstorms often come only in the afternoon, but frontal storms can occur at any time of day. Generally, it is advisable to start early in summer.

Mountain guides or qualified hiking leaders (up to T4 difficulty) are recommended for alpine hiking trails (white-blue-white marked routes), hiking leaders for hikes and mountain hikes. They take over the organization and planning of tours so guests can simply enjoy the hike.

The Uri hiking planner and the Uri Outdoor app help with planning. Through Geo Admin, you can find many useful information such as where pastures with herd protection dogs, mother cow pastures, and also wildlife resting areas are located.

Hikers hike at their own risk. The Uri hiking association is not liable for accidents occurring during the Uri Alpenkranz hike.
