Alpine Cheese Trail Stage Blackenalp

  • Tip
  • 19.94 km long
  • Difficulty: difficult
  • Condition: very difficult
  • Great panorama
  • Theme trail

Although the Blackenalp is located at the outermost tip of the Engelberg valley on Uri soil, this tour is also manageable for children's feet thanks to the cable car and three alpine dairies.

The first "shortcut option" arises already in the village. Directly opposite the starting point at the demonstration cheese dairy of the monastery is the bus stop. From there, buses regularly run to the valley station of the Fürenalp railway. Those who want to walk follow the path along the Aawasser to the valley end.

With the Fürenalpbahn you quickly and easily overcome the 800 meters elevation gain up to Fürenalp. From there, the hiking trail leads first slightly downhill and then slightly uphill to Blackenalp in about one hour.

The path is embedded in the beautiful mountain landscape. Fine alpine cheese is produced and sold at Blackenalp. But one shouldn't eat too much yet - on the way back, the Surenen alpine dairy still awaits. From the Surenen alpine dairy, the Stäfeli-Äbnet cable car shortens the descent into Stäfeli (also with direct alpine cheese sales). Via Alpenrösli, you reach Herrenrüti on a wide gravel path, where an asphalt road leads back to the Fürenalp station.

The two small cable cars along the route:
