No advertising is needed for probably the most frequently ridden cycling route far and wide - an absolute classic in every respect - scenic, athletic, and culinary.

With a length of 38 km and no significant climbs, the Zugersee route clearly falls within the pleasure category. Except for short sections between Arth and Walchwil, the roads are excellently developed and allow safe and relaxed riding. The route is therefore equally popular among hobby cyclists, families, as well as ambitious road bike and triathlon athletes. There is no shortage of opportunities to enjoy refreshments along the shores of the lake. And those who catch the right time of day can enjoy the legendary sunsets over Lake Zug. Between Zug and Cham, there is the option to follow the signposted cycle path instead of the main road. Unfortunately for road cyclists, this runs on a gravel path heavily frequented by pedestrians, which after rain evokes memories of the legendary classic Paris – Roubaix.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

The route can be nicely extended, for example by cycling around Lake Lauerz or even including the Rigi circuit.
