Following the traces of water use originating from a nationally significant current raised bog.

The Krebsbach:

The Krebsbach originates from Lake Hüttner. It flows via Itlimoos, Fürti, Roos, Weingarten and Schlyffi to Vorderbäch, where it flows into Lake Zurich. Already in the late Middle Ages, the Krebsbach was a vital lifeline for Wollerau: craftsmen and businesses settled on its banks to use the power of its water. This information trail takes you to the most important stations of the Krebsbach’s past. Some are still relevant today – because the Krebsbach continues to play a role in Wollerau in the 21st century.

The Freyenweiher:

In 1887 Tobias Frey, owner of the dye works, built an earth dam in the Itlimoos area – the birth of the Freyenweiher. The collected water was led from the Freyenweiher through the natural stream bed to the artificially created Fürtiweiher, which was removed in 1991, and from there via a pressure pipe down Fürtitobel to the turbine of the dye works. In 1991 the dye works ceased operation. The former reservoir has meanwhile become an oasis for those seeking relaxation. Residents from near and far enjoy the peace of this idyllic place. The Freyenweiher / Schöni area was included in the federal inventory of nationally important raised bogs.
