Trees, avenues, and rows of trees structure the Höfe landscape as “living architecture” and are historical, cultural, and aesthetic landscape elements.

Many of the existing rows of trees and avenues date back to the last century and have a strong appearance and attraction. Besides their aesthetic significance, rows of trees also have high ecological value. However, many rows of trees have disappeared in recent years due to reasons of road safety, road expansion, agricultural rationalization, structural conditions, old age, or disease.

For example, the characteristic birch row along Hüttnerstrasse in the Höfe district has been almost completely removed. To stop the decline of this attractive cultural and landscape element, the LEK Höfe implemented the tree-row project in 2013/2014. Suitable locations were searched throughout the district and over 100 new trees were planted as part of this project.

Follow "Beckiweg" until it ends 300 m further at a house in an open meadow. Now you have reached the highest point of the circular route and follow a meadow path for 530 m until you reach the "Riedgutschstrasse." Turn left and follow "Riedgutschstrasse" for 210 m, then turn right onto a path that leads back to Erlenstrasse. Turn right again and follow Erlenstrasse until you return to the village of Wollerau.
