This is a stage suggestion with the bicycle or e-bike of the Erlebnisweg Obersee.

The Erlebnisweg Obersee is currently the largest and connecting tourism project on the upper Lake Zurich and links the cantons of Schwyz, St. Gallen, and eight municipalities around and across the lake. The path mainly follows the Obersee along existing hiking and bike routes, through forests and nature reserves. Along the way, you will meet various characters or members of the Obersee secret society. They all tell you exciting, mysterious, surprising, sad, and also funny stories. You can learn more about them at the corresponding experience points.

All members of the secret society guard a treasure that is threatened to sink into the depths of the Obersee. They send you on a secret mission with the discovery backpack. If you manage to solve their tasks, you will be admitted to the Obersee secret society and thus become the guardian of the Obersee treasure.

You can find more information and where to get the discovery backpack at www.erlebnisweg-obersee.ch.

Directions

At the Tschirky Bakery, you can get the discovery backpack and also a snack if needed.

At Schmerikon station, pass the level crossing and follow the Strandweg towards Rapperswil.

The path is mostly flat and mostly leads along the lake shore. At Ziegelhof harbor, you will also see some Ledischiffe. Look out there for Baggerschang and his Ledischiff.

You will continue past a shipyard and reach the Wirtschaft zum Hof.

Then continue towards the village of Bollingen, where there is a small but nice bathing spot with a barbecue area and a small playground with a soccer goal.

If you look carefully further along the Strandweg, you will see the C.G. Jung Tower between the trees. Unfortunately, it is not publicly accessible.

There is a public toilet at the disused Bollingen station.

Continue past Wurmsbach Monastery and an observation tower before the Strandweg turns left onto Stampfstrasse towards Stampf.

Cross the bridge and ride on Blaubrunnenstrasse to Bächlihof. At Bächlihof, you will soon meet dear Mathilde Bächli. But you have to look for her first and walk through the orchards towards the hiking trail. You will find her experience point at the children's playground. By the way, you can stay at the Bächlihof for a very long time and enjoy many farm specialties.

Tip:

  • Do you need a cool down? Then take a detour to the Stampf beach pool.

Then continue from Bächlihof via Blaubrunnenstrasse to Busskirchstrasse to Eisenbahnstrasse. You are again on route 99 from SchweizMobil. Along the railway line, it goes to OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences.

Along the way, you pass the Lido sports facilities and the children's zoo.

Tip:

  • If you have enough time, a trip to Knie's children’s zoo or the Lido swimming pool or to the mini-golf is worth it.

At OST, you find the student. To get to her, you have to push your bike because a driving ban applies on the left of the Strandweg.

Around OST, there is a playground and many sports facilities (exercise equipment, slackline, beach volleyball).

Finally, stop by the Rapperswil Zurichsee Tourism Visitor Center at the fish market square. There you can get the discovery backpack and, if you have already solved all the tasks, also the reward! Take the Seedamm underpass and ride towards the old town.

Congratulations! You have completed a stage.

PS: more characters will follow... It is worth coming back.

Tips:

  • If you have enough time, we recommend a stroll through the old town, a swim in the city pool, or a boat trip on Lake Zurich, perhaps with the ship back to Schmerikon or to the island of Ufnau?
  • And if you have never been on the longest wooden bridge in Switzerland, it’s high time. It runs from Rapperswil to Hurden and is 841 m long.
