This is a stage suggestion for hikers on the Erlebnisweg Obersee.

The Erlebnisweg Obersee is currently the largest and connecting tourism project on the upper Lake Zurich and links the cantons of Schwyz, St. Gallen, and eight municipalities around and over the lake. The path mostly follows the Obersee along existing hiking and cycling routes, through forests and nature reserves. Along the way you will meet various characters or members of the Obersee secret society. They all tell you exciting, mysterious, surprising, sad, and also funny stories. At the corresponding experience points, you can learn more about them.

All members of the secret society guard a treasure that is threatened to sink into the depths of the Obersee. They send you on a secret mission with an explorer’s backpack. If you manage to solve their tasks, you will be admitted to the Obersee secret society and thus become the guardian of the Obersee treasure.

More information and where you can get the explorer’s backpack can be found at www.erlebnisweg-obersee.ch.

Directions

In Tuggen, start at the bus stop "Gallusplatz" and hike on trail no. 4 until you turn left at Gässlistrasse toward the forest. Then continue via Greblenweg (upper Greblenweg) through the Buechberg towards Grynau / Uznach. You will return to hiking trail no. 84.

Tip:

  • At Schrötermoos you will find a beautiful forest educational trail (approx. 45 min circular route)

Follow hiking trail no. 84 towards Grynau.

Upon reaching Grynau, cross the bridge over the Linth. On the right side along the river you will find many beautiful swimming spots.

Soon you will also meet the Castle ghost there. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the Linth until then.

Now follow hiking trail no. 4/84 towards Schmerikon. It runs along the Linth. Soon, the Linth ferry is planned to operate here and shorten the route from Schmerikon to Tuggen.

Further ahead, you cross a side channel of the Linth (Steinenbach) over the black footbridge and continue hiking until the Aabach bridge. Follow the trail here and you will find a playground and barbecue area, a pumptrack, and the indoor and lake baths of Schmerikon.

Follow Aabachstrasse until just before the main road, then turn left towards the harbor. There at the barbecue spot, you will meet another secret society member: the Stone breaker.

Then continue on the small walking paths – past the playground to the lake promenade and on to Schmerikon train station.

How about a nice refreshment at Restaurant Pier 8716 or at Tschirky Bakery?

Congratulations! You have completed a stage.

PS: Soon more characters will appear in Uznach and Tuggen on the Erlebnisweg Obersee.

It is therefore worth experiencing this wonderful route again on foot or by bike.
