The Erlebnisweg Obersee is currently the largest and connecting tourism project on the upper Lake Zurich and links the cantons of Schwyz, St. Gallen and eight municipalities around and across the lake. The path mostly follows the Obersee on existing hiking and cycling routes, through forests and nature reserves. Along the way you will encounter various characters or members of the Obersee secret society. They all tell you exciting, mysterious, surprising, sad and also funny stories. At the corresponding experience points you can learn more about them.
All members of the secret society guard a treasure, which, however, threatens to sink into the depths of the Obersee. They send you on a secret mission with the discovery backpack. If you manage to solve their tasks, you will be admitted to the Obersee secret society and thus become the guardian of the Obersee treasure.
More information and where you can get the discovery backpack can be found on www.erlebnisweg-obersee.ch.

Directions
At the Tschirky bakery you get the discovery backpack and also a snack if needed.
At Schmerikon station cross the railway crossing and follow the lakeside path towards Rapperswil.
The path is mostly flat and mostly follows the lakeshore. At the Ziegelhof harbor you will also see some traditional wooden ships. Watch out there for the Baggerschang and his wooden ship.
You pass a shipyard and arrive at the inn Zum Hof. Then continue towards the village of Bollingen, where there is a small but fine bathing area with a barbecue and a small playground with a soccer goal.
If you look around a bit further along the lakeside path, you will see the C.G. Jung Tower between the trees. Unfortunately, it is not publicly accessible.
There is a public toilet near the closed Bollingen station.
Next, continue past the Wurmsbach monastery and an observation tower before leaving the lakeside path and walking along the Jona dam towards Stampf.
Follow the hiking trail to the Stampf swimming area and then turn left towards the orchards of the Bächli farm. There you will meet the dear Mathilde Bächli and the related staging on the farm premises. By the way, you can linger a long time at the Bächli farm and enjoy many farm specialties. There is also a playground for children.
Tip:
- Need to cool off? Then take a detour to the Stampf beach.
And then continue from the Bächli farm along the lakeside path or route 84 towards Busskirch and then on to Rapperswil to the
OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences.
On the way, you pass the Lido sports facilities and the children's zoo.
Tip:
- If you have enough time, a visit to Knie's Children's Zoo, the Lido swimming area, or minigolf is worthwhile.
At the OST you will find the student. Around the OST there is a playground and many sports facilities (exercise equipment, slackline, beach volleyball).
At the end, stop by the Visitor Center of Rapperswil Zurichsee Tourism at the fish market square. There you get the discovery backpack and, if you have already solved all the tasks, also the reward! Take the Seedamm underpass and walk towards the old town.
Congratulations! You have completed a stage.
Tips:
- If you have enough time we recommend a stroll through the old town, a swim in the city bath, or a boat trip on Lake Zurich, perhaps with the ship back to Schmerikon or to the island of Ufnau?
- And if you have never been on the longest wooden bridge in Switzerland, it's high time. It leads from Rapperswil to Hurden and is 841 m long.
