The bus station "Hinter Seeberg" Bisistal at the EBS (Electricity Works of the Schwyz District) power plant, which was built near the largest karst spring of the Muota Valley, is our starting point. Bisistal is one of the areas with the highest rainfall on the northern side of the Alps, so it was obvious to use hydropower. Between 1952 and 1970, various power plants were built along the Muota River.
Along a steep path we reach the Rätschtal, known for its rich abundance of flowers. Vipers can often be observed sunbathing on the sunny plane tree. At the Hinterste Hütte we take the path southwards over the "Stägen" towards Geitenberg. Here, the steeply upright limestone layers impressively present themselves. At the highest point of our hike, the cross on Geitenberg, where traces of the 1st of August fire are still visible, our efforts are rewarded with a view of a unique mountain crown. In the alpine spring, we are surprised here by an unexpected variety of flowers, including arnica, vervain, anemone, hawkweed, globe flower, orchid, and devil's claw, with the widely visible yellow of the auricula standing out. In the wild romantic, steep terrain down to Bärensol and Schwarzenbach, vipers are also native.
The Schwarzenbach restaurant is located on a hillock that was of strategic importance in prehistoric times. Bronze tools found in the penultimate century testify to the presence of prehistoric hunters dating around 1800 BC.
The starting point Seeberg can be reached via the Way of the Cross, which leads from the chapel in Schwarzenbach down to Schönenboden.
