After we turn left at Oberried towards Urmi, we can already catch a postcard view of Gersau in the gap. It steadily ascends through a somewhat enchanted forest – and suddenly, at Stotzig Urmi, a view over the lake and mountains opens up. You will be amazed at how far down the lake already lies!
At Ober Urmi, an interesting path begins. It truly goes over stock and stone up to the highlight. It is well developed and secured with ropes at some steeper parts. Once at the top, the cross of the Vitznauer Stock stands on the left side and a few meters further to the right the cross of the Gersauer Stock. From both peaks, we have a breathtaking but completely different view, as if standing on two different mountains! Congratulations!
When we can finally tear ourselves away from this spot, we descend towards Fälmisegg, but turn left before to Wissiflue and continue to the Märis bench. Many consider this bench the most beautiful in Switzerland. Thomas Widmer writes in the Tagesanzeiger about this bench: "In its unobstructed location, it enhances the view of the water with the toy sailboats and the charismatic surrounding mountains. Grasshoppers jump over our shoes, the air is psychedelic, the eyes overflow. Why legalize cannabis when there is such an intoxicating bench?"
Then it continues to Oberrengg and gently down back to Gersau.
Note:
Attention: ladder on the descent! (See photo.)
To ensure that future generations or hikers of tomorrow can also enjoy the path, we ask you to take your rubbish with you.

Directions & Parking facilities
Via the A4 motorway: exit Küssnacht or exit Brunnen.
However, we recommend public transport instead of a car: sit back, enjoy, and do something good for the environment as well.
There are various paid parking options in the village: for example, at the quay area by the lake or in the middle of the village near the old town hall.
Buses run from Gersau towards Brunnen or Küssnacht at least every half hour.
Gersau is also accessible by boat!
