From the boat station, we proceed over the upper village to the tunnel. It is almost a must to quickly take a break here and look over the village of Gersau with the majestic Kaiserstock mountain towering in the distance. Shortly thereafter we turn left. Here begins the nature trail which repeatedly leads us slightly up and down through shady mixed forest and meadow slopes. At Kuorez, not only do we get another fantastic view, but also the opportunity to stop at the namesake inn. Children can play on the small playground or pet calves there.Â
Up to this point, we have followed the Waldstättenweg. Shortly after Kuorez, however, we turn left towards Furt and follow the romantically wild hiking trail to the forest. On the way back to Gersau, we can take the well-deserved plunge into the water at the Cholplatz lakeside bath or just have a coffee. There is also entertainment for children there!
Note:
So that future generations or tomorrow’s hikers can enjoy the path, we ask you to take your rubbish with you again.

However, we recommend public transport instead of a car: Sit back, enjoy, and do something good for the environment as well.Â
ParkingThere are various paid parking options in the village: e.g., at the quay area by the lake or in the middle of the village at the old town hall.ÂPublic transportationBuses run from Gersau towards Brunnen or KĂĽssnacht at least every half hour. If you no longer want to walk the last section, get on at the stop near the ferry.

I also like to do this route in the evening, aiming to enjoy some treats at Kuorez. In case it gets cozy and a bit late, we take a headlamp with us...
