- Start: Engelberg Train Station
- Destination: Horbis - End of the World
The path starts at Engelberg train station and leads to the end of the village street to the monastery chapel. Then it continues up the stairs to the road. From there, the Grottenweg branches right to the Klostermatte, a large meadow where young guests learn the basics of skiing in Globi's Kids' Land during winter. The high path continues along the signposted route past the seven springs. At this point, water bubbles clear and pure from the ground. Further along the hiking trail, upon reaching the forest edge, the next highlight appears – the Lourdes grotto. The Virgin Mary stands clearly visible on a rock outcrop. After lighting a candle or taking a short break, you cross the bridge and go left along the Bärenbach towards Horbis, the so-called End of the World.
No, the End of the World is neither cold, dark, nor dangerous, but a cozy restaurant in Horbis, the farthest part of Engelberg. Here, tired feet can be rested and thirst quenched with a glass of cold cider. Hunger can also be satisfied, as the menu offers rustic Engelberg dishes such as Älplermagronen or cheese slices. Refreshed and strengthened, you return to Engelberg. From Brunni valley station, you can also use the free summer bus.
