Hike
A varied circular walk around the Mythen mountains, offering panoramic views, a mountain restaurant and beautiful stretches of countryside between Rätigs, Brunni and Rotenflue.

The Mythen Nature Trail starts at the Rätigs midway station and leads along the south-western side of the Grosser Mythen towards Güntrigs to the Zwüschet-Mythen. The well-maintained footpath winds through varied countryside and offers frequent beautiful views of the Schwyz valley basin.

At Zwüschet-Mythen, at 1,436 metres above sea level, a viewpoint with a cross and benches invites you to take a break. From here, the path leads down to the Zwüschet-Mythen alp, where a cosy alpine inn offers refreshments.

The route then continues to Brunni in the Alpthal valley. From there, the path leads through the Zweckentobel gorge, across mountain meadows and through sparse woodland to Müsliegg and on to the Rotenflue mountain station.

The hike concludes at the Gipfelstubli restaurant, where you can enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains and round off the tour in comfort.

Take the Rotenfluebahn cable car back to Rickenbach, enjoying the stunning views along the way.

Short route – shortcut via Holzegg

There is a way to shorten the Mythen Nature Trail slightly. The walk follows the same route as the first option to Alp Zwüschet-Mythen. At this point, the paths diverge: instead of descending into Brunni as on the first route, you turn off here directly towards Holzegg / Rotenflue.

This path is also well maintained and offers plenty of nature, as well as a beautiful mountain panorama.

This shorter route covers a distance of 5.8 km and involves an elevation gain of around 630 metres. The hike takes about 2.5 hours.
