Central Switzerland: Scenic hike
The pass route from Schwyz to Oberiberg leads through the exciting pre-alpine landscape of the Mythen region.
The "Old Schwyzerweg" is the historic pack track over the Ibergeregg Pass between Schwyz and Ybrig. The path is partially constructed as a historic "Prügelweg," offers the most beautiful views of the Schwyz valley basin, and passes through the Ibergeregg nature reserve past the impressive Grossen Mythen.
Historic pack track
In the 14th century, the "Old Schwyzerweg" was built as the shortest connection from Schwyz to Ybrig. On what was at the time partly swampy terrain, thick wooden poles were laid and the gaps filled with earth or gravel. The path stands for the importance of trade in remote areas and the affiliation of Ybrig to the main town.
