The Swiss Foundation for Landscape Protection has awarded the Ibergeregg as Landscape of the Year 2019. The peatland forests of the Ibergeregg belong to the rare and endangered habitats of our country.

The trip to the “high north” begins with a ride on the Rotenfluebahn – towards the mighty Mythen. On the hike, the view repeatedly invites you to pause: overlooking the Schwyz basin, Lake Lauerz and Lake Uri, and later into the Ybriger mountains. The path leads through a mosaic of peatland areas, meadows, and forests with damp soils. You feel as if you have been transported to Scandinavia. No wonder, the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Protection awarded the Ibergeregg in 2019. The hike ends in Oberiberg (Neuseewen bus stop). During the bus ride back to the starting point, the moor and forests pass by the windows one last time.

The hiking combo “Peatland Forests Ibergeregg” is bookable from June 3 to October 22, 2023.
The offer includes the following services:

  • One-way ride on the Rotenfluebahn
  • Bus ride from Oberiberg to Rickenbach
  • Mountain surcharge bus ride
  • Coffee break at the Gipfelstubli Rotenflue restaurant or Hotel Passhöhe Ibergeregg

Plan enough time to also discover the wonders of nature along the path.
Taste the blueberries on the left and right of your hike when they are ripe in early August.
