A fascinating and easy hike for pleasure hikers and families with children. The route follows the former track of the Rigi Scheidegg - Kaltbad Railway (1874 - 1931). Along the way, many relics of the former railway can be discovered, as the route goes over old bridges and tunnels with constant views of the Alps and the Schwyz basin.
The hike can also be done in the opposite direction.

Directions & Parking facilities
At the stations of the Rigi railways in Goldau and Kräbel, there are paid parking lots available.
To return to the parking lot after the hike, we recommend turning off towards Wölfertschen-First at Rigi First and taking the cogwheel railway from there.

However, we recommend public transport instead of the car: Sit back, enjoy, and do something good for the environment at the same time.
Rigi Scheidegg, the starting point of the hike, is accessible via Goldau by cogwheel railway and the Kräbel-Rigi Scheidegg aerial cableway.
The hiking ticket for this hike includes the following train rides:
- from Vitznau / Weggis to Rigi Kulm by cogwheel railway or aerial cableway
- from Rigi Kaltbad to Vitznau / Weggis by cogwheel railway or aerial cableway

I can warmly recommend a relaxing bath at the Mineral Bath & Spa Rigi Kaltbad to conclude the hike.
For guests arriving by car at the Kräbel parking lot, I recommend following the path from Rigi First to Wölfertschen-First and taking the cogwheel railway from there.
