Rothenthurm-Finnen Trail

Cross-country skiing pleasure at its finest through Nordic-like terrain in the protected Rothenthurm moorland.

Our unique moorland is traversed in winter by a beautifully laid-out cross-country skiing trail. On the 20 km loop even the endurance athletes will get their money's worth. It is moderately difficult, with a tough climb at 2.5 km, a steeper descent with a subsequent longer climb at 8.5 km, another tough climb at 11.2 km, and a somewhat longer descent after 13 km. The trail is prepared for both classic and skating techniques.

Directions & Parking facilities

From highway A4, Schwyz exit via Schwyz/Sattel or from highway A3, Samstagern exit via Biberbrugg to Rothenthurm

There are direct connections with the Voralpen-Express from the direction of St. Gallen/Rapperswil and Lucerne/Küssnacht. From Lucerne, Rothenthurm can be reached with the Voralpen-Express in about 50 minutes. Access from the station and bus stop is via the station underpass!

Alternatively, a direct bus runs from Schwyz to the Rothenthurm train station bus stop.
