Route Beinwil am See – Hallwil
The day's destination and historical highlight of the route is the Hallwyl Water Castle. The 900-year-old building was carefully restored a few years ago. An exhibition provides insight into the eventful history of the castle and its inhabitants. You learn, for example, about the fate of Hans von Hallwyl and the background of the mysterious herbal laboratory run by Burkhard III. From the water castle, you can either take the bus or walk through the nature reserve to Boniswil.

- Starting with a short descent from Beinwil train station on the Lucerne–Lenzburg line down to Lake Hallwil, a charming hike begins that is worthwhile practically any time of the year. The easy lakeside route leads without further elevation changes counterclockwise to the Hallwyl Water Castle. The first part of the route up to Mosen runs in the shade through thickets and floodplain forest. Continuing via Unteräsch and Meisterschwanden, you get even more views of the lovely landscape. The hiking trail is car-free and has relatively few paved sections. Despite the proximity to the water, there are no marshy areas to overcome, so the walk can also be done in half-shoes. Various restaurants by the lake invite you to stop. If you prefer to eat from your backpack, you will find pretty picnic spots along the way.
