As an easy introduction, the Sarnersee route offers a cycling experience for the whole family in a beautiful enclosed valley with a unique lake landscape.

The route starts in Giswil. On the bike path, you reach Sachseln and then the main town of Obwalden, Sarnen. Here stands the Hexenturm with the unique White Book of Sarnen, in which the story of Tell is told. Above Sarnen towers Landenberg Castle, from where the lords were driven out.
Afterwards, the quiet road leads to Wilen, a dreamlike hamlet. Soon you reach the beautiful shady forest with rustic wild streams, inviting children to play. As beautiful as the streams are with little water, they become wilder during thunderstorms. After the forest, a detour to Camping Giswil is worthwhile. This place invites young and old to linger. The children enjoy the playground, while the adults enjoy a refreshment in the bistro.
