The hut in the idyllic Meiental is ideal for families with children. When the blueberries are ripe, the path becomes a pleasure trail.

The Sewenhütte, located at 2148 m above sea level, towers on the right, sunny side terrace of the Meiental. The view is magnificent: On the opposite side of the valley, you can see two of the highest mountains in the canton of Uri, the Fleckistock (3416 m above sea level) and the Stucklistock (3312 m above sea level). To the west, the Fünffingerstöcke and the Wendenhorn. Down the valley, you catch a glimpse of the little village of Meien.

The hut approach has been converted into a dwarf trail. The Seewensee invites you to cool off and take a boat ride. Near the hut are several climbing gardens from difficulty grades 3 to 6. Another attraction is the zipline, through which children can swoosh through the mountain air.

Directions

Approach: On the Susten Pass road, you reach the parking lot at Gorezmettlenbach (P. 1613, shortly after Färnigen). First, the path winds up the slope through the forest, then across open meadows. After 1½ hours, you will already see the very nicely situated Sewenhütte. To the west, the jagged Fünffingerstock group impresses, to the south the Fleckistock with its hanging glaciers.

Descent: For the descent, you can choose instead of the ascent route the one via Rieter to Gorezmettlen. To avoid the heavily trafficked Susten Pass road, use a hiking trail slightly below the road and after crossing the stream, ascend again to the Gorezmettlenbach parking lot.
