Directions & Parking facilities
It is recommended to drive only as far as Wassen by car and then continue to the Sustenpass by PostBus, as the start and end points are not in the same place. Wassen is directly connected to the A2 motorway via an exit. The Gotthard motorway is the connecting road between Ticino and Central Switzerland.
If you want to drive up by car and then walk back by bus to get your car, the route is as follows: From the A2 motorway you reach the Meien valley and the start of the route. Take the exit at Wassen on the motorway and drive towards Sustenpass up to the Sustenpass height. From Wassen it is about 15 km.
It is recommended to leave the car in Wassen and take the PostBus to the start of the hike. In Wassen there are some parking spaces directly by the old train station. There are also some parking options in the village itself.
If you still want to park at the Sustenpass, there are parking spaces at the starting points Sustenbrüggli and Gorezmettlen, but in limited numbers.
Parking lot Sustenbrüggli: Please use the parking lot at the depot on both sides of the road, about 150 m downhill from the Sustenbrüggli restaurant.
Groups with several cars: Please park one behind the other.
The Sustenpass is easily accessible by public transport. Take the train to Göschenen or Erstfeld and then take the bus to Wassen and further towards Sustenpass. This will take you to the starting points Sustenbrüggli or Gorezmettlen. The timetables are as follows: PostBus timetable and SBB timetable
