Tourist route: Sempach-Ruswil-Sempach

From Sempach the route heads for Neuenkirch and up the Homberg, which is on the south flank of the Ruswilerberg. The panorama that unfolds more than makes up for the effort of getting here: the alpine chain with its mighty peaks spans the entire horizon from east to west, with the Pilatus appearing to be only a stone’s throw away.

From Homberg, you follow the route down to Ruswil, the largest farming municipality in Switzerland. The landscape of rolling hills is dotted with scattered farming communities. Numerous farms established themselves here on the sun-soaked slopes over the years, many of them having now evolved into imposing farmsteads. Alongside the farmhouses, Ruswil boasts grand country houses, ancient peat barns and, of course, its charming village centre. 

The route passes high above Lake Sempach via Buttisholz and Huprächtigen on its return to Sempach.
