The winter hiking trail between Andermatt and Realp allows you to explore the entire Ursern Valley on foot.

The Andermatt - Realp winter hiking trail starts at the same place as the Andermatt - Marcht circular trail. At the beginning, the route is also identical. However, instead of taking the path back to Andermatt in Marcht, winter hikers continue towards Hospental and Realp. From Marcht, the path continues on the same side of the Reuss, past Hospental with its historic tower. At the Richleren stables, a bench invites you to linger; from here you can enjoy a view far across the Ursern Valley. At Zumdorf, the trail changes to the other bank of the Reuss. It's worth stopping off in Switzerland's smallest village: it's a little gem, and you can warm up and fortify yourself in the restaurant. From Zumdorf, the route continues along the banks of the Reuss to Realp - past the Mitschen tunnel and the biathlon training base. At the foot of the Furka you can see Realp and a little further on the Furka steam train station. From Realp you can take the train back to Andermatt.
