Ascent through forest and over meadows to the Morschach viewpoint plateau. On the opposite side of the lake, the Rütli greets you. Continue to the Axenstein-Känzeli with a view as far as the Pilatus. Descent through the Ingenbohlerwald forest.

At a fairly steep ascent through the Riemenstalden valley at 835 m above sea level, you first have to earn the view. Once at the top, the view opens over Lake Uri and the mountains as well as the Rütli on the opposite side of the lake. The path soon leads gently downhill over the heights of Morschach again. Passing the holiday and leisure resort «Swiss Holiday Park» you head onto the former track of the old rack railway Brunnen-Morschach to the Axenstein-Känzeli with a magnificent view over Lake Lucerne to the Pilatus.

Now descend through woodland areas and clearings until you see the roofs of Brunnen. Before boarding the train or ship again in Brunnen, a visit to the Auslandschweizerplatz by the lake is worthwhile.

Directions & Parking facilities

The motorway from Lucerne and Zurich leads via Axenstrasse to Sisikon.

There are few parking spaces available in Sisikon.

P+Rail Flüelen – Bahnhofstrasse 3 – 6454 Flüelen

Train and bus. Most visitors travel to Sisikon by train. From Zurich and Lucerne, it runs every hour and half hour. Also from Ticino. www.sbb.ch

Boat. The boat trip from Brunnen to Sisikon takes about 20 minutes. Boats operate regularly. If you want to enjoy a longer boat trip, you can board the boat from Lucerne. Also, from the southern end of Lake Uri there are regular scheduled boats from Flüelen to Sisikon. Exact departure times and information about round trips can be found here: www.lakelucerne.ch
