Wissenegg trail
Tired of fog and hustle? Visit sunny Finsterwald, nestled in a beautiful mountain setting by the Risette and Schimbrig. The trails amid beautiful nature lead you through forest areas and moorlands in the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch. Connoisseurs and athletes alike come fully satisfied here.
The Wissenegg trail starts in the village of Finsterwald on Glaubenbergstrasse heading towards Wissenegg. It is also accessible from the Bohrplatte parking lot via the Nesslebrunnebode trail. The route partly leads over the raised moor as well as meadows, past the adjacent Fuchsernwald and the Wissenegg pond to Homberg and back. With sufficient snow the trail also runs through Geugelhusen and the Fuchsernwald (max. 2.8km). The route, with gentle inclines and descents, is perfect for beginners and connoisseurs who appreciate the great atmosphere of sun, forest, and mountains, but also for advanced skiers wanting to improve their technique and endurance. The Wissenegg trail offers several alternative loops to shorten, extend, or add an extra loop to the cross-country skiing pleasure.
The Finsterwald trail consists of three sections: Nesslebrunnebode trail, Wissenegg, and Mettilimoos.

Trail passes are available via the online shop, at the Kassenhaus at the Wissenegg trail or at the Nordic Point on the Bohrplatte (open weekends only).

Changing rooms & shower/WC
In the former schoolhouse building (see signpost) there is a changing room with WC and shower.

Equipment
Ski rental and lessons at the Nordic Point on the Bohrplatte directly at the Nesslenbrunnenboden trail Finsterwald every Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
In bad weather, opening hours may change at short notice. Please always check on www.langlauf-finsterwald.ch whether the ski rental is open.
Directions & Parking facilities
The UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch lies in the heart of Switzerland, centrally between Bern and Lucerne. You can reach Finsterwald via main road 10 towards Entlebuch and from there to Finsterwald.
Attention, in winter the Glaubenberg Pass (Entlebuch - Sarnen) is closed!

You can reach Finsterwald by public transport via Entlebuch (Bern-Lucerne train line). From Entlebuch, take the PostBus to Finsterwald "alte Post". Note, only a few courses per day. Please check connections in advance.

Safety guidelines
- Use exclusively the marked trail and observe the signposts.
- Behave considerately towards other trail users and the landscape.
- Carry additional sun protection. UV rays at high altitudes can be very strong, especially in winter, even in cloudy weather.
- Weather conditions can change very quickly and without warning in the mountains. Appropriate clothing is very important.
