Musical and Poetic Concert Programme “Hood – Blows – Hope”

other events
Exciting stories with tragic love. There are songs as well as melodramas to be heard. In addition to Robert Schumann and Chopin, lesser-known composers like Hans Ebell, Carl Haslinger, Dora Pejacevic, and Max Schillings are also featured.

Sebastian Mattmüller (baritone and speaker) and Beat Mattmüller (piano), regularly perform thematic musical and poetic concert programs. This year they have prepared the program "Haube – Hiebe – Hoffnung." It revolves around exciting stories with tragic love; often, the belonging to a monastery or a monastery itself plays a role as a cause or counterpoint to the tragedy of love. For this reason, they would like to present the new program in monastic spaces for monks.

In addition to the well-known Robert Schumann and Chopin – here in the form of a short melodrama (by Burmester) – we will also feature lesser-known composers: Hans Ebell, Carl Haslinger, Dora Pejacevic, and Max Schillings. Alongside songs, melodramas will be heard, an art form that was very popular around the turn of the 19th to the 20th century but is rarely programmed today.
Short biographies

Sebastian Mattmüller, baritone
He performs solo and in renowned ensembles both domestically and internationally. Always with the text in the foreground, he is involved as a singer and speaker in various projects, including the concert series he founded,
"Horizonte," in the Cartusian Church of Basel, where music from the Baroque and the galant period is emphasized. A particular passion of his is to curate song evenings that combine Romantic songs with texts designed for thematic programs. He is particularly fond of the art form of melodrama, which was in vogue around the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, which is why melodramas are also part of today's program.

Beat Mattmüller, pianist

He completed his piano studies at the local music conservatory.
