To mark the cataloging of the estate of graphic artist Hans “Kü” Küchler (1929–2001) at and by the Kunstmuseum Olten, the Hans Erni Museum—in cooperation with its sister institution in Olten and the Swiss Museum of Transport—is presenting an exhibition titled “Fantastic Flying Objects: Hans Küchler and Relatives.”
This inventive body of work is complemented in the exhibition by objects of imaginary aviation from the Swiss Museum of Transport’s collection, as well as works by contemporary artists such as Jürg Benninger (* 1966), Peter Chevalier (* 1953), Hans Erni (1909–2015), Valerie Favre (* 1959), Franz Fedier (1922–2005), David Fuhrer (* 1974), Reto and Markus Huber, Huber.Huber (* 1975), Rosa Lachenmeier (* 1959), Wilhelm Morat (* 1954), Camilo Salvador Díaz de Villalvilla Soto (* 1976), Ursula Sax (b. 1935), Roman Signer (b. 1938), Daniella Tuzzi (b. 1964), Peter Wüthrich (b. 1962), and Robert Wyss (1925–2004), who imaginatively break free from the pull of gravity and also give wings to the viewers’ imaginations.
The result is a panorama of a central aspect of European art that also held a special theoretical and practical interest for Hans Erni as both an artist and an amateur pilot. The exhibition is accompanied by a brochure and a varied program of events.
