The smallest cable car in the canton of Schwyz is the only means of public transport to the popular excursion destination for nature lovers and families.
In autumn, Illgau is usually above the sea of fog. One more reason to come to Illgau to enjoy the glorious sunshine.

The railway, which was completely renovated in 1995, is the only means of public transport connecting the Muota Valley with the village of Illgau. The six-passenger train covers an altitude difference of 227 metres over a length of 374 metres in just two minutes. Bicycles can be transported. Outside the operating hours, the railway can be operated independently at any time using tokens.

Directions & Parking facilities

Anreise
Take the car in the direction of Schwyz. Then follow the signs to Muotathal. The valley station of the small cable car is in Ried, Muotathal on the left side of the road.
If you want to drive to Illgau, follow the signs to Illgau between the Stoosbahn and Muotathal.

Parken
Parking is available at the valley station of the cable car. There are also parking spaces in the village of Illgau.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel
Take bus no. 501 from Schwyz, train station in the direction of Muotathal. Get off at the Ried, Illgau cable car stop. Take the cable car to Illgau.
