Directions

The path leads along a forest road from Stans (Eichli sports facility) to Oberstöckmatt. On hot summer days, the ride through the forest is especially pleasant. At Oberstöckmatt, it's worth taking a photo break. The open view of Pilatus, Stanserhorn, and towards the Obwalden region is spectacular.

Afterwards, it becomes flatter and past the Obbürgen plateau, you ride to the farmhouse at Etschenried. There you have a wonderful panorama over the other side of Lake Lucerne, up to the Engelberg valley.

You then continue over meadows and past farms to the spacious Honegg fire pit. Between Etschenried and the public Honegg parking lot there are a few fence crossings (please close gates).

From Honegg, you can reach the famous Hammetschwand mountain summit on foot in about 40 minutes, with breathtaking views all the way to Lucerne and the Central Plateau.

Then continue down the road to Ennetbürgen. Here a detour to the St. Jost chapel offers another magnificent view over the lake and mountains.
