Hike
Niklaus von Flüe is one of the most influential leading figures in Swiss history. The circular hike passes the places of his work as a person, mediator, and mystic.

It begins in Flüeli at the residential house where Niklaus von Flüe lived as a farmer, family man, and councilor. From here, the path leads down into the Ranft, where he acted as Brother Klaus as an advisor and peacemaker.

Behind the Ranft chapel, it continues over a pedestrian bridge past the chapel in Müsli, up to Melchtalerstrasse. After a short stretch through the forest, the church of St. Niklausen is already visible. The free-standing bell tower as well as the interior of the church with medieval frescoes and the peasant-Baroque painted vaulted ceiling are worth seeing.

It continues northeast to the Dominican convent Bethanien. From there, the path leads to Hinter Egg and then down the Eggallmend to Unter Egg and the High Bridge. As the highest wooden bridge in Europe, it spans the 103-meter-deep Melchaatobel. The Melchi estate to the right after the bridge once belonged to Niklaus von Flüe. Now it is only a short stretch along the Melchaa Gorge back to Flüeli.
