Nidwalden is rich in attractive cableways. In the Engelberg Valley, they lead from the valley floor up to some year-round inhabited hamlets and further up to the alpine pastures near the tree line. The scenic high-altitude hike is – thanks to the aerial cableways – not very strenuous.
From Geissmattli, the aerial cableway takes us to Bielen. The path leads almost parallel in altitude over to Bergheimet Diegisbalm, which is also connected by a cableway from the valley. From the upper section, the cableway goes up to Oberalp, and from there you hike 45 minutes to Gummenalp. If your legs get tired after the coffee break at the mountain restaurant, take the cableway down to Wirzweli, where the Waldegg Guesthouse Restaurant is located right next to the valley station. From Wirzweli, take the aerial cableway to Dallenwil.

Directions & Parking facilities
By train to Grafenort Station. It is about a 20-minute walk to the valley station of the Bielen cableway.

Option 2:
By train to Wolfenschiessen station. Rent a Nextbike at the station and ride to the valley station of the Bielen cable car. There you can return the bike. Sign up here for free.
