The eighth stage of the Glacier Bike Tour starts in Andermatt and leads over the Furka Pass to the Rhone source in Valais. On this section, you will encounter not only a challenging ascent of almost 900 meters in elevation but also the discovery of one of the most beautiful and smallest villages in Switzerland. After crossing the Furka Pass and the cantonal border, you roll the first meters in Valais and behold the impressive Rhone Glacier – the source of the river of the same name. The famous Hotel Belvédère is located there but is currently not in operation. The descent offers a breathtaking view of the four-thousand-meter peaks of the Valais and Bernese Alps. The landscape changes from alpine heights to picturesque expanses in the Goms. Surrounded by the Furka, Grimsel, and Nufenen passes, you reach Ulrichen, the goal of this stage – one of the many scenic and cultural highlights on the Glacier Bike Tour.
