From the Gasthaus Dammagletscher at the Göscheneralp reservoir, walk over the dam crest to the southern lakeshore. Then hikers follow the path to the junction at point 1927 (from here the route corresponds to a T4 hiking trail with white-blue marking) and ascend towards the pass. On the right side, the crystal cave at Planggenstock can be seen. At the Alpergensee, the path continues uphill to about 2690 m above sea level, then keeping right to the Lochberglücke.
The return path follows the ascent path through the Realp forest down to the village of Realp with 160 inhabitants or alternatively down to the Albert-Heim Hut. From there, you walk on the hut trail or alternatively over the Schafberg to Tiefenbach at 2106 m above sea level, where you can take the bus to Realp.

Directions & Parking facilities
It is recommended to park the car either in Göscheneralen or then in Andermatt, Hospental or Realp and go by train and bus to the starting point, as the start and destination are not the same location.
In all villages Göscheneralen, Andermatt, Hospental, and Realp there are various parking options. For more detailed information, please contact: Andermatt Holiday Region
The starting point is accessible by PostBus from Göscheneralen train station, and from the destination point you can leisurely return by train to Göscheneralen.

Safety guidelines
Hikers should watch the weather forecast in advance because the hike is above 2000 m above sea level and, in extreme cases, light snowfall can occur. Especially in early summer, snow and possibly ice can still be expected in the upper part of the trail.
