Lonely winter landscapes and a fairytale forest beckon on the snowshoe trail towards Göscheneralp.
The easy snowshoe trail starts near the Göschenen hydroelectric power station, which can be visited by appointment. It first leads along the Göschenerreuss, a tributary of the Reuss, which has its source at the Chelengletscher. Striking: the chapel on the other side of the river near the hamlet of Abfrutt. It is dedicated to Matthias, the patron saint of avalanches.
On the way back through the snow-covered Bitziwald forest, the highest point is reached above Ängi (1194 m above sea level). At the end, the trail descends once again: first gently and then, after a hairpin bend, somewhat more steeply downhill towards the finish at the hydroelectric power station.
