Gravel bike tour Kerns-Mutterschwandenberg-Stansstad-Alpnach-Kerns

The start and end point of this bike tour is the Postplatz in the center of Kerns. After a few minutes, you turn into the mystical Kern forest - a paradise for recreation, not only for cyclists. The Kern forest offers many opportunities to take loops by bike. Again and again, you come to left or right turn-offs. The gravel paths in the Kern forest are mostly flat, which makes this area a wonderful base for family bike tours. The Chärwaldräuber adventure trail can also be discovered by bike, and you can refresh yourself at the barbecue area with brought sausages or snake bread. Past Lake Gerzen - please push your bike on the wooden footbridge - you continue through the Kern forest towards St. Jakob. Along Mutterschwandenberg, you mostly pedal on gravel roads towards Rotzloch. Here you go down the Rotzschlucht gorge, where you ride through a tunnel cut into the rock. After arriving at the bottom, the route continues towards Stansstad and along Lake Alpnach to Alpnach. This section is also mostly covered on gravel roads. Next, you follow the Sarneraa river, where shortly the Wichelsee appears on the left side. Shortly after Wichelsee, turn left towards Kerns. Now follows the longest ascent of this tour over the grotto back to Kerns.
